Abstract:
    We aim to use the Low Power Wide Area Networks to locally mimic the GPS and make a robust, predictive, power efficient, indoor and outdoor, deploy once - run everywhere tracking system.
What is the unmet need in society that your idea will fulfill ?
    Our system will be power efficient, robust and accurate; ideal for 30km outdoor and indoor navigation. A report from the research firm MarketsandMarkets estimates the indoor location market to be worth $41 Billion by 2022. Our system aims to set a standard in the market of positioning systems.
Who needs it ? How many would benefit ?
   Universities, corporate sector, market areas, housing schemes, education cities, residential sectors; everyone can benefit from a locally managed, secure positioning system. We would start by deploying this system at NUST and attracting potential benefactors.
How will the solution works
    The final system will have four LoRa Gateways connected, via internet, to a server. This server is hosted on a Linux system providing a nanosecond clock. The end-node will be the tracking object. This object will broadcast its ID in all directions. Once the IDs are received by the Gateways (Satellite wannabes), they send a message to the nanosecond clock server. This server creates timestamps and does TDoA to determine the unknown object co-ordinates. These coordinates are then updated on the ma
Who are your competitors ? How is your solution different
    Apple's iBeacon (2013) and Google's Eddystone (2015) are the main indoor competitors. These are probabilistic and dependent on the internet. GPS is an example of the single point failure problem. We provide a secure, accurate and deterministic alternate to these systems.
