Abstract:
    We are developing a┬ánon-invasive real time Brain Computer Interface System that enables a user/patient to control his stretcher in real time through three cognitive actions with an enhanced accuracy.
What is the unmet need in society that your idea will fulfill ?
    PWDs (Persons with Disabilities) is the most neglected area in Pakistan. According to 1998 census there were around 2.49% PWDs in Pakistan but there is nothing significant being done. Keeping this in view we have chosen it as our problem profile and the┬áchallenge is to facilitate PWDs.
Who needs it ? How many would benefit ?
   Permanently disabled can get a huge benefit from it by making themselves less dependent on their body parts to do their tasks. The patients who are weak or are incapable to move may get facilitated by this device to move their stretcher without the external assistance.
How will the solution works
    We are developing a non-invasive BCI that enables a user/patient to control his stretcher.The cognitive actions are Smile, Headshake and meditation.The EEG headset we are using to acquire brain signals is Emotiv Epoc+. Machine learning algorithms will be then applied in python due to its extensive library support and it being license free. Signals through the headset will be fed to the computer where a trained model will detect the cognitive action and run the hardware required i.e stretcher.
Who are your competitors ? How is your solution different
    We have no direct competition in Pakistan. Our unique selling point is that it requires no muscular movement i.e.hand or leg move. A sensor-automated home system or stretcher works only through brainwaves.
