Abstract:
    A legged robot, with applications such as post-disaster surveillance and weight carriage, will be developed using elastic elements to demonstrate energy-efficient hopping and running capabilities.
What is the unmet need in society that your idea will fulfill ?
    60% of the confined-space fatalities are rescuers out of 2.1 million workers annually in US (NIOSH). There are 3.28 million disabled people in Pakistan unable to live a normal life (PBS). These statistics of deaths of workers need to be reduced to zero & the disabled be helped in carrying luggage.
Who needs it ? How many would benefit ?
   1. Workers in confined spaces (0.1 million approx. in Pakistan) 2. Disabled People by helping to carry weights over level ground, stairs and elevations (3 million approx. in Pakistan, 40 million approx. in US ) 3. Armed forces
How will the solution works
    Legged robots, unlike wheeled robots have greater locomotion competence inasmuch that isolated footholds and discontinuous pathways can be utilized. Moreover, legs allow for active suspension allowing for greater stability of the torso. Since walking and running is fundamentally an oscillatory motion where the body utilizes periodic gait patterns, the use of springs for energy storage and recovery has the potential to greatly reduce the energy cost of transportation in legged robots.

    No competitors in Pakistan according to the best of our knowledge as the field is relatively new in Pakistan.
