Abstract:
The Handbike is designed to convert any wheelchair into a mobilized unit. The people with special needs can go anywhere they desire having the propects of a scooter incorporated in a wheelchair.
What is the unmet need in society that your idea will fulfill ?
We radically improve the mobility of more than 30% people with disabilities to match their lifestyle to that of people with no disabilities.
Who needs it ? How many would benefit ?
there are more than 800,000 disabled people who require a wheelchair in the country. Out of them, only 5% (higher class) can buy an electric wheelchair. We can increase this percentage greatly by making this cheap product even for the middle class family to buy this.
How will the solution works
Without altering the wheelchair, we are aiming to build a 4 points docking machine used as an attachment capable of moving the user at a speed of 15 km/h. We just have to Attach it to the chair in just seconds. Whenever you want, you can disconnect the add-on handbike in less than the time it takes a person without any disability to get on or off a cycle or motorbike. Hub Motor in a wheel is connected with a battery and a handle.
Who are your competitors ? How is your solution different
Our main competitors are Ayub Yaqoob Engineering, who are designing an electric wheelchairs for Pakistan. What we are making is a cheap add on for a wheel chair. No changes to a wheelchair is required
