Abstract:
    An automated portable vertical farming system, which provides significantly higher yield per field compared to conventional farming all the while being economical, user and environmental friendly.
What is the unmet need in society that your idea will fulfill ?
    By 2025, there is an expected water shortage, 50% of the population will live in urban areas. Annually about 20 mil hectares land is destroyed by erosion, 9000 hectares are deforested. Our system defines the next generation of farming. It provides not only a convenience but it is need of the hour.
Who needs it ? How many would benefit ?
   The primary users of our system will be small scale farmers, vegetable and fruit suppliers. We also plan to target the urban population In such areas, where a lot of vertical spaces are available on roads, corporate buildings, megastructures etc which can be utilized for farming.
How will the solution works
    Plants are grown in organic compost (waste food) which contains apt amount of nutrients. Plants are grown in relays of covered containers which are stacked in customizable racks which can be suspended against vertical structures such as walls. These containers are provided with light through optical fiber, water through a Drip-Irrigation system. Air, water, light, temperature in containers is allowed through Smart-Controlled valves. These units are remotely controlled and monitored by an app.
Who are your competitors ? How is your solution different
    There are no direct competitor of our system in Pakistan. Farmers have tried to utilize vertical farming on their lands, but it is based on manual labor and conventional ways, bad maintenance also leads to poor yield. With smart-farming we aim to increase the shelf-life of plants and increase yield.
