Abstract:
implementation of portable and wearable pulse oximeter. A pulse oximeter is capable of measuring the oxygen saturation level of blood non-invasively. It is used in asthama and hypoglacemia detection.
What is the unmet need in society that your idea will fulfill ?
Pakistan alone has more than 7 million asthma and hypoglycemia patients. A device that is crucial part of any medical room is rarely seen in Government hospitals. According to recent surveys, wearables market will be worth 20 billion USD by 2020.
Who needs it ? How many would benefit ?
Asthama and hypoglacemia patient which require constant monitoring of their SpO2 level.
How will the solution works
We are working on a ring(or a glove) based architecture which will use a microprocessor for data processing and bluetooth module for communication with mobile phone. Lights of 2 wavelengths (red and infra red) will be used ,which will be received by PIN diodes.
Who are your competitors ? How is your solution different
Our competitors are those who already worked on this project. Our project will be wearable and data acquisition on mobile will also be available. What makes our project different is that it provides a unique design approach that can be easily converted into a marketable product in the future
