Abstract:
    Chronic kidney disease patients require transplant or regular dialysis. Those on dialysis require strict regulation of diet, as build up certain nutrients can lead to worsening of their condition.
What is the unmet need in society that your idea will fulfill ?
    Currently no such device exists which measures, in real time, the concentration of specific nutrients in blood, using minimally invasive techniques. Furthermore, calculating and displaying a regulated diet plan accordingly and being both portable and easy to use.
Who needs it ? How many would benefit ?
   Target audience will be patients on dialysis. According to, Dr Waqar, who heads the nephrology department at Lahore‚Äôs Shaikh Zayed Hospital, in Pakistan the reported rates of dialysis patients are more than 20,000 per year.
How will the solution works
    Using a lancing device few drops of blood will be collected into a micro-cuvette strip which is to be inserted into the device. Using Near-infrared spectroscopy the blood sample will be analyzed and concentration of specific nutrients in blood will be calculated. Using this data a regulated diet plan, explaining the type and quantity of food items that can be consumed, will be generated which can be viewed on a smartphone using the application.
Who are your competitors ? How is your solution different
    Currently there exist applications which only provide general details about regulation of diet of dialysis patients whereas our device and application will provide specific details tailored for every patient.
