Abstract:
Automating the indoor agriculture system using IOT for producing organic crops problems in controlled weather conditions while minimizing the water and pesticide usage and maximizing crop yield.
What is the unmet need in society that your idea will fulfill ?
Traditional farming practices, unstable climate conditions, smog events in Punjab region, increasing water shortage & heavy use of pesticides are the major reasons leading to inorganic and low crop yields. Our proposed solution is mainly addressing these problems.
Who needs it ? How many would benefit ?
Pakistan is an agricultural country and it should be kept in mind that agriculture industry accounts for 26% of Pakistan’s GDP. So, the beneficiary of our product will be the 70% population of Pakistan that is related to agriculture, directly or indirectly.
How will the solution works
Our solution is made up of grow lights and a simple arduino kit in a makeshift greenhouse. The arduino kit consists of humidity and temperature sensor, soil moisture sensor, and an automated water pump. The arduino will send live data from sensors to the cloud where it will be visible to the user. The user can then turn the lights and the water pump on or off. Moreover, it will also have an IR camera that will transmit live feed to the user to enable the user to remotely monitor the crop as well
Who are your competitors ? How is your solution different
In Pakistan, there are no competitors currently as the solution is not applied in Pakistan before. The indoor agriculture has yet to become an industry in Pakistan.
