Abstract:
    Proposed solution will replace costly battery systems with low maintenance and high life expectancy flywheel energy storage system to permit penetration of renewable energy in industrial application.
What is the unmet need in society that your idea will fulfill ?
    Due to global warming and fluctuating fuel prices, industries are eyeing renewable sources of energy. Such systems incorporated with batteries is not operationally feasible on larger scale. Flywheel storage system will provide the required resilience for smooth operation with multiple power sources.
Who needs it ? How many would benefit ?
   Industries which are eyeing to lessen their electricity bills but not compromising their transitional operation losses. This solution will enable penetration of renewable energy in exisiting industrial setups increasing the production hence, the exports and so the people of Pakistan.
How will the solution works
    Proposed solution will regulate the output of renewable source of energy by a flywheel energy storage system (FESS) and use the same energy storage system to provide a smooth transition to backup generators. Which means flywheel energy storage system with capability to support a heavy load for shorter duration of time can be employed to integrate renewable generation in already existing system.
Who are your competitors ? How is your solution different
    duty tax of 25%-50% on chemical batteries makes it impossible to incorporate. Whereas added higher cost, low life expectancy(2-3 years) and use of rare earth materials it makes it infeasible against flywheel system which has near 25 years life expectancy, recyclability and lower maintenance.
