Abstract:
    Electroforming is the highly specialized use of electrodeposition for manufacture of thin walled metal parts. work done involves manufacture of complex shaped and cost effective metallic components.
What is the unmet need in society that your idea will fulfill ?
    There is need and emerging trend to fabricate highly specialized micro components having lot of domestic and industrial applications which is only possible through the Nickel electroforming having other unique properties like, corrosion resistant, light weight and high temperature stability.
Who needs it ? How many would benefit ?
   Electroforming is widely used industrial process, particularly in the defense sector. Nickel foil is used to produce circuit boards and solar heating panels. Moreover radar wave guides, record stampers, dimensionally precise micro mould and dies are manufactured through electroforming process.
How will the solution works
    In the methodology followed pretreatment of Aluminum substrate is done with Sodium hydroxide to remove naturally developed AlO layer. After pretreatment, primary plating solution is applied to gain an initial layer of nickel which helps in adhesion of secondary layer of Nickel. Then the secondary electrolytic solution is applied for long time (depending upon the thickness required) using DC power supply. Finally the substrate is dissolved chemically to achieve pure Nickel electroform.
Who are your competitors ? How is your solution different
    Other processes such as casting, forging, stamping, deep drawing and machining may serve well for most applications. However, when requirements specify high tolerances, complexity, lightweight and miniature geometry, electroforming is a serious contender and may be only economically viable.
