Abstract:
    Develop a climate adaptable construction material that can be used for rigid pavement repair, and possess the ability of self-healing and self-sensing if damaged, within specified limits.
What is the unmet need in society that your idea will fulfill ?
    Structures require repair and maintenance after sometime. Developing such a material will not only decrease maintenance cost of the structures, but also, such structures can be monitored for any structural deterioration and damage without using destructive testing techniques.
Who needs it ? How many would benefit ?
   We aim to develop a practical product, based on our research. It has wide spread use in construction industry and the recommendations we will put forth to improve our work will be beneficial for future researchers. The idea is to develop efficient building systems by modifying already used materials
How will the solution works
    The grout/mortar we are preparing possess self healing capabilities, in which non-pathogenic bacteria has been utilized using a carrier media i.e. nano/micro sized graphite. This bacteria will perform the self healing action in repairing structural cracks, if applied instead of regular grout/mortar. In addition, the self sensing capabilities will enable to carry out monitoring of structural health.
Who are your competitors ? How is your solution different
    One of our competitor group is using Graphene oxide for developing self sensing mortar. Other is developing bio-influenced concrete. Our work is different in a sense that our project's scope is the combination of above two projects. We're also working on filed trials for rigid pavement repair.
