Abstract:
    Our project is development of a 3-DOF Underwater Vehicle that runs on pre-feed trajectories and requires minimum human input. The pakage also includes a remote controller with GUI interface.
What is the unmet need in society that your idea will fulfill ?
    it is known that land resources are limited and are depleting day by day, AUV can help us explore under seas and underwater surveillance of enemy. Our country is currently facing an energy crisis; the average shortfall in the power sector is 4,000 Megawatts this calls for need for new resources.
Who needs it ? How many would benefit ?
   As energy shortage and security is a national cause so this project benefits whole nation, our product is cheaper than those available in international markets.Natural resources on land are depleting and AUV can help us find new resources such as gas, oil and coal reservoirs etc.
How will the solution works
    A pre-defined trajectory is fed to micro controller such as Arduino which also has inputs from INU (inertial navigation unit), inputs from INU give the controller information about current location (surge, sway and heave) of AUV the controller compares these coordinates with pre-fed trajectory and deflects the control surfaces (rudder and hydroplanes) to match the two set of coordinated; when the mission is finisher the vehicle rises to the surface with the help of flotation mechanism.
Who are your competitors ? How is your solution different
    A product with same specifications can cost up to $10,000. Our locally developed prototype would be much cheaper. Although there much cheaper alternatives available in international markets but they don’t function as per given specifications.
