Abstract:
    A multi-frequency antenna can replace many typical antennas reducing size,cost and system complexity while improving performance. In our project a novel design for a tunable patch antenna is presented
What is the unmet need in society that your idea will fulfill ?
    The world is moving towards cheaper and compact devices. Our antenna helps to reduce the system design of a mobile phone by reducing the number of antennas.
Who needs it ? How many would benefit ?
   Our project is a business to business project rather than a business to client project. It will be a center of attraction for mobile phones and communications magnates. The project will not only benefit customers with compact phones, but also help tech conglomerates with a better business product.
How will the solution works
    By changing the dielectric permittivity of the antenna substrate, we can change the operating frequency of the antenna. Therefore, accommodating more frequency bands and increasing bandwidth. This is done by creating a cavity in the substrate of the antenna and filling it with liquid crystals. The permittivity of the anisotropic liquid crystal changes with the bias voltage applied across it, changing the operating frequency.
Who are your competitors ? How is your solution different
    This idea has not been yet produced as a product and hence no competetion. Our solution offers to accomodate different frequency bands with a single liquid crystal antenna as compared to a simple antenna that operates on a fixed frequency.
