Abstract:
    The idea is to diagnose lung cancer biomarkers using Metal-Organic Frameworks as breath sensors which are a non-invasive, cheap and cost-effective technique.
What is the unmet need in society that your idea will fulfill ?
    According to the World Health Organization (WHO), lung cancer is one of the leading causes of death. The major reason for the high fatality of lung cancer is the late diagnosis. Therefore, it is crucial to ensure early diagnosis of lung cancer, especially for high-risk patients.
Who needs it ? How many would benefit ?
   Early diagnosis of diseases and monitoring of physical conditions are very important to reduce mortality and medical costs. For this reason, the development of portable and inexpensive diagnostic platforms are needed to achieve real-time and on-site diagnoses.
How will the solution works
    Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are emerging as a class of very important materials offering high levels of porosity with considerable control over pore size and composition. they have a huge application in sensing. Our research goal is to employ Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) to detect lung cancer biomarkers.
Who are your competitors ? How is your solution different
    There is a need to develop breath tests for the early detection of cancer. CT scan, Biopsy have limitations in early detection. Breath sensors can increase the survival rate of cancer patients. Competitors are, local market diagnostic labs following old trends resulting in delayed diagnosis.
