    Timely evaluation of Lung health prevents many pulmonary complications.DEEP is a low-cost,portable diagnostic device for evaluation of lung health, supported by an Android and desktop application.
What is the unmet need in society that your idea will fulfill ?
    COPD affects an estimated 30 million individuals in U.S.Most patients are unaware of this condition until major loss of lung function occurs.Conditions are worse in developing countries where healthcare facilities do not exist.DEEP provides an easy and inexpensive evaluation of lungs health.
Who needs it ? How many would benefit ?
   Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease is the 5th largest cause of death all around the world, taking almost 250 lives every hour. DEEP being inexpensive and portable, can be used by doctors and patients to test COPD, athletes for fitness evaluation and by researchers for data analysis purpose.
How will the solution works
    Device consists of a pressure sensor, MPX5100DP, that measures difference in pressure between sections of the Venturi tube and outputs a voltage proportional to this difference. To condition signal from a 0-25/35 mV source, signal was amplified and Sallen Key low pass filter was used for a cut off frequency of 33 Hz.Sensed values are used to calculate the parameters for testing lung function by a microprocessor, stored in nonvolatile memory, and results are presented on mobile Application.
Who are your competitors ? How is your solution different
    The existing solutions include peak flow meter by Sibelmed, spirometers by Medical International Research and lab tests.Measuring peak flow however does not enable diagnoses of chronic lung diseases.DEEP aims to compete with the existing market in cost effective solutions and quality user experience
