Abstract:
    SABAR intends to help Austistic children learning social skills with the help of Robotics. We aim to develop a robotic therapy on these kids and also observe real-time effect of this on these children
What is the unmet need in society that your idea will fulfill ?
    1 in 68 children suffers from ASD and very small percentage of them receive proper evaluation and treatment. Traditional therapies are exhaustive and expensive. Clinical use of interactive robots is a promising area because ASD kids are more responsive towards technology than human.
Who needs it ? How many would benefit ?
   There are 7.5 million autism-affected people all around the world of which 350,000 are in Pakistan. Our product will help in catering to the needs of these people as well as the therapists, scientist and doctors working in this area. Our idea can be a breakthrough in this field.
How will the solution works
    We will use sensors such as EEG for brain signals, EMG for muscle activity and Kinect for kinesiology/posture recognition of body. Through them we will get data like emotions, expressions, reflexes and joint attention. Then we will use these parameters in developing therapy through NAO robots in which it will play football with the kid and measure his responses, feelings etc. The child will learn through playing and it will improve his social skills and fear. It will be an automated system.
Who are your competitors ? How is your solution different
    Currently there are no direct competitors because no one is working on getting real-time feedback through sensors. However, there are some therapeutic robots which are already working in this field. But they require control from human. Our system is fully automatic.
