Idea Name: Wheel Chair
Slogan: Keep Going
Startup Domain: Healthcare
Abstract:
We have to design and perform analysis of wheelchair (Leveraged Freedom Chair) called LFC for persons with lower body and spinal disabilities. Low cost, high strength will be main objectives of project
What is the unmet need in society that your idea will fulfill ?
For the disabled person living in a developing country like Pakistan, traditional push-rim wheelchairs fall short because they limit the user to flatter, smoother ground. Unlike traditional wheelchairs, the LFC will be of lower cost around Rs 20,000 and of lower weight around 15 kg.
Who needs it ? How many would benefit ?
LFC will be needed to disabled persons who desire to travel on rough terrain under their own power, while remaining in low cost.
How will the solution works
The Leveraged Freedom Chair (LFC) is a low-cost, all-terrain, variable mechanical advantage, lever-propelled wheelchair designed for use in developing countries. The user effectively changes gear by shifting his hands along the levers; grasping near the ends increases torque delivered to the drivetrain, while grasping near the pivots enables a larger angular displacement with every stroke, which increases angular velocity in the drivetrain and makes the chair go faster.
Who are your competitors ? How is your solution different
The concept of LFC was first manufactured by MIT graduates team and it is successfully being produced on commercial level in India but in Pakistan still locally manufactured wheelchairs are being used. So by using easily available parts ,it can easily beat currently used less efficient wheelchair.
