Abstract:
    Solar-biomass hybrid dryers are widely used as environmentally friendly alternatives to fossil fuel dryers.This project presents an improved solar-biomass hybrid dryer design.
What is the unmet need in society that your idea will fulfill ?
    Estimated food losses of about 50% of total production.Food crops are usually for immediate consumption needs,resulting in wastage of food surpluses during the short harvest periods and scarcity during post harvest periods.Drying is one of the methods used to preserve food products for longer period
Who needs it ? How many would benefit ?
   1) Farmers. 2) Industries which preserve fruits, vegetable and dry fruits like COLDWARE. 3) Can be used in homes.
How will the solution works
    In solar dryer solar radiation is converted to heat using an absorber plate made of metal so that it heats the air inside collector. In biomass heat exchanger a biomass fuel like wood pellets are used as a heat source. The heated air from both the sources is then passed through a drying chamber,reducing the moisture content of food to 10 to 20 %, thus preventing food from spoilage.
Who are your competitors ? How is your solution different
    Industries like COLDWARE produces greenhouse dryer which operate during daylight while our prototype will function 24 hours. Our suggested design provides constant heating to all the products while other design lacks in maintaining of constant temperature.
