Idea Name: Solar Still
Slogan: Solar Desalination for Sustainable futures

Abstract:
    A stepped inclined Solar still with Phase Change Material (PCM) and single stage bubbling is proposed. Solar stills can be setup on small scale making them suitable for remote areas
What is the unmet need in society that your idea will fulfill ?
    The idea is aimed at addressing the current and approaching water crisis. According to a report by "Water Resources Group" The demand for potable water is expected to reach 6900 billion m3/year by 2030. The current supply of 4200 billion m3/year is well below this.
Who needs it ? How many would benefit ?
   This technology is meant for remote areas and poor countries. The beneficiaries would be the people who do not have access to clean drinking water. A system of solar stills can easily fulfill the water demands of a small village
How will the solution works
    The system works on the principle of the rain Cycle. Brackish water passing through the still is evaporated and condensed to purify it. The main energy source is solar energy. To increase the productivity of this system Sponges, PCM,Insulation and Bubbling with small Blower (powered by a PV panel) is being incorporated. The evaporation and condensation is being done in seperate containers to further improve performance.
Who are your competitors ? How is your solution different
    Competitors are other desalination technologies such as Multistage Flash ,Reverse Osmosis. The difference is that Solar stills require less power and can be scaled according to requirements making them feasible for remote areas. Also they require less technical support and maintenance
