Abstract:
    To mitigate traffic congestion and optimize road user travel time on Peshawar Road Rawalpindi by using signal coordination and Intelligent Transportation System.

Who needs it ? How many would benefit ?
   When people move to their worksplaces, institutions,etc, traffic congestion is observed on Peshawar road and saddar area Rawalpindi.When signals will be ITS coordinated, traffic will get green on every signal and people will reach their destinations about 45 mins earlier.
How will the solution works
    Analysis of traffic counts, signal timings etc will be done by using Hambern's traffic model, PTV VISSIM, SYNCHRO STUDIO 8 and Intersection Interventions and ITS using signal coordination. Then solution will be suggested that will incorporate reduction in road user travel time along with fuel consumption analysis, environmental impact analysis and economic efficiency analysis.
Who are your competitors ? How is your solution different
    ITS will compete traditional methods(signal phasing etc) for reducing road user travel time by using Advanced Traffic Control and Management System and will result in reduction in fuel consumption 1.2% annually, road user travel time about 45 min and benefit cost ratio will range from 2:1 to 36:1.
